The Cosby Show was hilarious it taught you a lesson in every episode. With dope parents Cliff and Claire setting the tone with rules and valuable lessons in a comedic way. But the cast style was one of a kind! From Dr Huxtable’s fancy sweaters to Rudy’s polka dot tights that was worn with the perfect dress or skirt and sweater combo each one of the characters swag was attention grabbing!
My all time favorite character was Lisa Bonet aka Denise Huxtable. She was the family wild child and risk taker! With the help of costume designer Sarah Lemire, this made Denise Huxtable a style icon. From making her brother Theo a custom made Gordon Gartelle shirt to the flawless make up”face beat” before “face beat” exist. She is justabrooklyngyrl’s style icon.
From the short hair pixie cut to the messy bob and let’s not forget the first time we can remember ever seeing a woman with dreadlocks on Network Television. My favorite style moment was when she wore the oversize orange/redish blazer and that time when she wore her dad’s tie as a headband! These trends which were done in the early 80’s, yet still repeating itself today! She’s def in my top five for style icon and this is way before there was a Carrie Bradshaw.
The Queen of layers, Hat Lover, I mean even her night clothes were chic.
