Dedicated to the first week of Spring justabrooklygyrl will bring you different tips and “Denim is the New Black” looks brought to you by your everyday women and how they wear it.
Denim on Denim goes beyond the chambray shirt and jeans combo. A denim shirt is your closet real MVP. As mentioned in this month article on instyle.com , Denim will be this Spring and Summer fashionistas go to guide dressing it up or down from day to night. Be careful ladies, doubling up on denim can sometimes become too “blah” in other words fall flat if not worn the right way. No worries justabrooklyngyrl have some simple tips for you!
Denim Do’s
DO add dimension with a belt to provide that cut off point visually (when in doubt or if you are not a “belt wearer” go for the half tucked in method (tucking in only the front of your denim shirt into the front of your denim jeans, shorts or skirt)
DO play with color by adding bold print accessories
DO invest in good quality denim, the better the quality the longer it last! The less money you are spending season to season to replace your favorite denim pieces the better
DO go day to night from flats to pumps, adding a red lip or tuxedo blazer to get the most of your day with less changing
DO use denim shades to flatter or hide body parts (lighter shades of denim draws attention to the body parts they cover while darker shades creates a slimming effect)
DO cut old jeans into shorts its inexpensive and a summer must(coming soon in next weeks DIY)
Denim Dont’s
DON’T be afraid to invest in a pair of distressed jeans. Some fear that it can not be worn all year round and will be a waste of money but that can be easily fixed by adding leggings or flannels underneath
DON’T be afraid to mix denim textures and colors (you don’t want to look too matchy matchy)
DON’T wear denim accessories while wearing denim on denim. It’s an overkill
