KicksNBibs “Baby Puree”

Parenting isn’t easy as the Instagram moms posing with matching mini me makes it seem! And I wish there was a “how to guide” with a step by step play on different growth stages for our toddlers.

Thanks to my mom and the genius who created the “Baby Bullet”! Since Khristian turnt 4 months, we have been blending his food. Hey I know it’s time consuming, and you have a million other things to do like work, laundry, and trying to comb your hair but during these unsure times when we are learning the true meaning of “health is wealth”, making sure your little one has natural ingredients going into their tummies is key!
Also the fact that one day we went to purchase baby food for the first time and the little jar of pumpkin and peaches with the word “Organic” had an expiration date of 4/2023 and other unfamiliar additives that weren’t peaches and pumpkins! And all I can think of was “what’s really inside that jar?” and “I’m not giving my kid that!”

So I compelled a list of quick easy meal preps that will last for 7-8 days with 2 servings per day! Remember if you don’t have any extra storage containers you can use a brand new ice tray dedicate it solely to storing their food and for larger portion I use ziplock bags!

Pureeing homemade baby food is very simple. Cook the food, let it cool a bit, toss it into a blender or food processor and puree away.

You can also use a stick mixer or an immersion blender. Puree and blend your baby foods as your creativity and your baby’s age allows. Don’t be afraid to puree sweet potatoes together with apples for example.

And don’t be afraid to use breast milk and/or formula. These 2 ingredients will give a nutrition boost as well as offer baby a familiar taste!

Disclamer!!! I am not a pediatrician or food Nutritionist simply a new mom who tried this ish on her own kid and it worked!

Carrot Pumpkin Baby Food

1 15 oz can pumpkin

5 carrots, baked (Note: For both of these recipes, all fruits/veggies are baked beforehand to soften them prior to being thrown in the Baby Bullet. I bake all the fruits/veggies in these recipes, as opposed to boiling them, because it really helps hold in those important nutrients baby needs).

3 Tbs prepared Quinoa (the taste can be strong, so if your baby isn’t a fan of the flavor, try a little less).

3 peeled, sliced, and baked apples

After all ingredients have been properly prepared, add them to the Baby Bullet and blend. Pour into individual Baby Bullet food jars and keep refrigerated until ready for feeding!

You can reheat the food in your bottle warmers just as you would heat up your little ones bottle! I personally boil water on the stove and put the little jars in the hot water it’s faster!

Apple and Pear Sauce

1 apple
1 ripe pear

Classic applesauce is a sweet and simple way to start your baby out on solid food. It’s also extremely versatile, once you get into flavor combos. Start with just two apples, try an apple and a pear, or mix it with other flavors, like blueberries or kale.

Peel, quarter, and core the apple and pear. Cut the apple and pear into bite-sized chunks. In a saucepan fitted with a steamer basket, place the apple chunks. Pour in about 1 inch (2.5 cm) of water. Place the pan over medium-high heat, cover, and bring to a boil.

Steam the apple for 2 minutes, then add the pear chunks. Continue to steam, stirring occasionally to help cook evenly, until the fruit is very tender, about 10 minutes longer. Once it cools down blend together to your liken! This is one of the fastest easier snacks and can go with any meal throughout the day!

Turkey or Chicken Purée

Protein is important for babies, and tender turkey or chicken is a good way to start. You can just take a few pieces of your unseasoned or lightly seasoned turkey or chicken you prepared for dinner and use it for their meal.

Serve it with a sweet vegetable or a fruit.

In a small frying pan over medium heat, stir together the meat and 3 -4 tablespoons of water after you already cooked the meat but before blending it! Make sure to cut into small pieces before putting it into the blender.

Puree in a blender or food processor until the texture is right for your baby. To make it thinner, add water, breast milk, or formula.

Refrigerate the puree in an airtight container for up to three days, or freeze for up to three months.

Do Not Keep any fresh unfrozen baby food for longer then two weeks in the fridge. Whatever you are not using for the week you can freeze immediately for longevity!

until next time cool parents!

xoxo

KicksNBibs DIY: Halloween Costumes For The Kiddies

Lions! Tigers! Bears! Oh my! Now that I’m a mom I’m more excited then ever for Halloween. Before you couldn’t catch me at your annual costume party and you could assure my home had the “No Candy” sign faithfully.

Money super tight? Don’t stress because I have some quick, easy and of course affordable DIY ( Do It Yourself) costumes for your little one.

1.Stop Sign

All it takes us some grey pants, a red top, a handmade cardboard sign shaped like an octagon with the letters S-T-O-P on it and some felt hot glued to their socks( off of them of course) to mimic grass and—voila!—you got yourself a cute a walking stop sign.

2. Pepe Le Pew
All you need is a black onesie, put white felt on the front that you can find for little to nothing from Michaels Arts and Craft and add a matching hat. Then boom you got yourself the cutest Skunk!

3. Crayon

Dress your little one in all yellow, blue, red, green, orange or whatever color you desire—and top with a cone-shaped hat. You can make a crayon top fairly easy with construction paper. Purchase iron on letters from your local arts and crafts store to write the color of your choice or just simply the word “Crayon” on their top!

4. Bubble Bath
All you need is a white outfit, then tape some balloons onto it. Put a shower cap on your little one’s head. Add a scrub brush to the costume! Then there’s your bubble bath!
